Unauthorized Bengali Translation of PS Uncovered!
In Harry Potter and the Illegitimate Bengali Precursor, I mentioned an unauthorized Bengali translation of Philosopher’s Stone:
a Calcutta based, unauthorized Bengali translation of Philosopher’s Stone by one Arghya Das (titled either, Harry Potter O Parash Pathar or Harry Potter O Paras Mani depending on the source) was also in the cross hairs and was also successfully suppressed.
Well @kanto_2_hogwarts (who found the “Precursor”) also managed to track down a copy of this unauthorized translation as well! It was published in 2002 by Nandita Publishers and has two translators, Bidyut Banerjee and Arghya Das, rather than just Arghya Das, as the quoted article reported.
